If you are looking for a “Ghost of the Highlands” that combines raw power with a sophisticated color palette, the Vietnam Silver is unmatched. This species is a relentless architect, constructing deep, silk-lined burrows that often feature elaborate webbing at the entrance. They are famous for their explosive feeding response—often striking prey at the mouth of their burrow with incredible precision before vanishing back into the shadows. Their fast growth rate and “Silver Ghost” appearance make every rare sighting a major event for the keeper.

Silk Road Note: As an Old World species, the Vietnam Silver possesses medically significant venom and “teleportation” speed. They do not have urticating hairs and will defend their territory with intensity if disturbed. We recommend this species strictly for experienced keepers who are comfortable managing fast, defensive, and moisture-dependent spiders.

🏡 Care Requirements

Provide 5-6 inches of moist, tropical substrate to allow for natural burrowing behavior. Keep temperatures between 75-82°F with high humidity (70-80%). Ensure the enclosure has excellent cross-ventilation to prevent stagnant air. Feed 1-2 appropriately sized insects weekly. They thrive in a “wet-dry” cycle where the lower layers of substrate stay moist while the surface is allowed to dry slightly between mistings.
