The Chilean Emerald Beauty is a true masterpiece of the dwarf tarantula world. Euathlus sp. Quick Facts
- Species: Euathlus sp. Hermosa
- Size: 3.5-4 inch leg span (Dwarf Species)
- Lifespan: Females 20+ years | Males 5-7 years
- Growth Rate: Slow
- Temperament: Extremely curious and docile
- Care Level: Beginner ⭐
What sets the Emerald Beauty apart is its unique “investigative” personality. While many tarantulas are content to hide, Euathlus species are famously curious, often coming out to explore when they feel vibrations near the enclosure. Their small adult size makes them perfect for keepers with limited space, yet their vibrant metallic sheen ensures they stand out in any collection.
Silk Road Note: These are high-altitude survivors from the Andes, meaning they are exceptionally hardy and easy to maintain. They are widely considered one of the most “handleable” species (though we always recommend caution), as they move with a slow, deliberate pace and almost never show defensiveness.
🏡 Care Requirements
Provide 3-4 inches of firm, dry substrate with a small cork hide and a shallow water dish. These spiders prefer room temperatures (68-75°F) and do not require high humidity. Feed small roaches or crickets once a week. They are very light eaters and extremely low-maintenance, making them the ultimate “hands-off” premium pet.
