If you are looking for a “confidence builder” species that offers a bit more color than a standard desert tarantula, the Blue Front is an excellent choice. This species is famous for its calm demeanor and is frequently found out in the open, making it a fantastic display animal. Because they are long-lived and incredibly hardy, they are perfect for keepers who want a “lifetime pet” that is as low-maintenance as it is beautiful.

Silk Road Note: These are high-altitude survivors from the tropical scrublands of Costa Rica, making them very adaptable to standard household temperatures. They are not prone to “flicking” hairs as much as other New World species, making them a very relaxing addition to any collection—especially for those who value a steady, predictable temperament.

🏡 Care Requirements

Provide 3-4 inches of substrate with a cork hide and a shallow water dish. Keep temperatures between 72-78°F with moderate humidity (50-60%). They prefer their substrate mostly dry with one corner slightly dampened occasionally. Feed 1-2 appropriately sized insects once a week. Their slow growth rate is rewarded with decades of companionship.
