If you are a fan of “Heavy Webbers,” the Namibia Horned Baboon will not disappoint. This species is a relentless architect, quickly transforming its enclosure into a fortress of thick, opaque silk tunnels and reinforced burrows. Hailing from the arid scrublands of Southern Africa, they are incredibly hardy and drought-tolerant, making them one of the most “bulletproof” Old World species for experienced keepers.
Silk Road Note: As a member of the Baboon family, C. sanderi possesses medically significant venom and lightning-fast speed. They do not have urticating hairs and will not hesitate to defend their burrow if disturbed. We recommend this species for advanced keepers who respect the speed and intensity of African Old Worlds.
🏡 Care Requirements
Provide 4-5 inches of dry substrate with cork bark and plenty of anchor points for webbing. Keep temperatures between 75-82°F with low humidity (40-50%). Always provide a shallow water dish, though they prefer their substrate bone-dry. Feed 1-2 appropriately sized insects weekly. Their feeding response is legendary—they are bold hunters that rarely refuse a meal.
